Reasons UN Agencies Are Failing
UN is an intergovernmental organization that has been in operation for many years. The primary objective why the intergovernmental organization UN was formed was to promote international cooperation but also ensure that they create and maintain international order. There are many countries in the world meaning that one organization cannot serve all of them comparing the diverse fields that need to be taken care of and that is why there are agencies under UN that help out. Since the formation, UN has been making a lot of steps forward and helping people across the world and you can read more about such successes. It is also important to note that for the past few years, now, UN agencies have had very many issues surrounding them. This has led to many failures which are accounted for and you can read more to understand the issues. The success or failure of anything is accompanied by a concrete reason because it is as a result of something. Given in this article some criticism on the failure of UN agencies.
Change in leadership over a short period of time is one of the setbacks that many UN agencies have been facing. Leaders keep on changing and its leader who comes in want to make the legacy and that is why there has been a lot of issues in change of policies and implementation because they keep on changing. When the policy changes, another one comes up and therefore each policy is implemented halfway and that is why there is no result. Most of the times there are is the issue with the implementation of the policy and not the change of the policy. Some policies are not implemented as they should be while others gain a lot of focus and therefore the imbalance leads to a failure of one agency where the other one is implemented appropriately. Another issue with the leadership that is leading to the fall of the UN agencies is the difference in ideologies. Every leadership will have diverse ideas but the main focus should be on how to deal with the problem, no matter the ideal that is implemented.
Another undeniable issue that has been a real setback, is the increase in crime levels across the world. In the world today, there has been a lot of crimes such as child abuse, rape, terrorism, and so on which has resulted in very high numbers of refugees leading to the refugee crisis. This has been an issue because there has been a lot of straining financially with the UN budget.
